There’s an owl in my house!!

Do you have night owls…
I mean kids that never seem to sleep early enough living under your roof like me?!

I have THREE children that no matter WHAT time I put them into their beds they manage to NOT go to sleep.  I try to get the 2 year old in bed between 7:30 & 8:30 AND the older two to bed between 8:30 & 9:30 due to sport practices ending at 8…you’d THINK they’d be tired! Unfortunately…their WIRED! I’ve turned off TVs (yes…I’m one of those bad parents that have tvs in each bedroom)…I even sing all the songs I can think of yet they’re STILL awake!!! Sometimes wide awake staring at the ceiling welll after hubby and I got to sleep (and we’re night owls too! I know…we set bad examples…LOL).  Every 30 minutes it seems you hear stomping towards the kitchen or bathroom by the older two (luckily the toddler ACTUALLY STAYS in bed!)…ERRR Constant knocking on our bedroom door when all we want is peace and the chance to be lovers (not sure why but that sounds funny here…LOL) and friends rather than mommies and daddies…DOUBLE ERRR

I’m tired of this routine especially with school in full swing.  This means earlier wake up calls than the lazy summer days of sleeping in.  Even the 2 year old has to be able to wake up early so she can be dressed to help mommy take her older brother and sister to the school bustop.

Hyland’s Calms Forte is DEFINTELY the ticket for your child to “reach their zen” (gosh…am I even saying that right?! Oh well…LOL).  Check out the site below (course everything from the page IS below…LOL).  Everyone took their suggested dose by 7pm tonight in hopes that they would be asleep BEFORE 9pm.  These are TINY disolvable pills that caused no grief to the kids as far as keeping it down.  Once they get the sleep pattern going they will stop taking the supplements (praying for week end) and hopefully their bodies will continue to sleep at its new accustomed time.

Well…by 10pm ALL were sound asleep…THIS is a FIRST DEFINITELY for the oldest (the other two really vary in the department of when they EVENTUALLY go to sleep but for the oldest…MAJOR accomplishment)! SO I believe we’re going to take the dose right after dinner before 7pm in hopes that all will be asleep by 9/9:30pm tonight.  And can you believe I was actually in bed by midnight last night?! THAT is a first as well!!! LOL

The Mom Song

My ABSOLUTE favorite Mom song!!  If you haven’t already seen this you’ve got to!!  The Mom Song Sung to William Tell Overture condensed into 2 minutes!! AMAZING! LOL

Comment me and tell me what you think of this song…

Phew!!

And the day is FAR from over!!  Whoever said a SAHM is easy and fun all the time has GOT to be kidding!!  Today I THOUGHT I’d wake up before the masses to plan my forever long to-do list and tweak my Book Blog (www.tbfreviews.wordpress.com) by giving it a new look.  I was stoked to get my image more book related when I realized that ALL of my community logos and links and other working things were GONE!!  Not just hidden for me to pull back up like the blogroll is but GONE! I literally had to go to various communities to RE-COPY logos, widgets, and such and to make things MORE complicating, in wordpress if you want to copy and move html text to another wordpress location (as I have some of the same info on this site) it won’t allow it!! UGH…

Once the kids get up we realize there is no more cereal left and I’m out of eggs…JOY! So quickly make them shower and dress so we can start errands early and stop by good old McDs…but of course by the time we get there breakfast is no longer being served (more grumbles and complains because they don’t get hashbrowns…hey…at least they’re getting SOMETHING! Ya know?!)

Head to the library to drop books off and print some things off (a week or 2 back I “accidentally” pulled something out of the inside where it prints because paper jammed…ANOTHER story…JOY).  Dump all books in the book slot not paying attention to what is being tossed in as I had requested everyone put all of their books into my bad.  Between being yanked by the 2 year old and griping at the kids for picking with each other, I just didn’t pay attention to how ANY of the books looked (cross our fingers I at least got the to the right library!). Leave and feel a little accomplished and happy to mark it off the list.  But THEN I get a call from the library because I’ve dropped a book that looked like a dog chewed it like crazy and I need to come in and pay the fee this week (THANKS Snoopy!! LOL).  OMG…I absolutely forgot and NEVER meant to drop THAT one in!!

STILL have to pick up groceries, run to the gas station, pick up a money order for a bill, run to the Dick’s Sports Store to get a “cup” and mouth guard for little man’s football, run to the post office, and STILL come home before hubby does to shop for cheaper medical insurance, wash dishes, throw a load in, straighten up, cook dinner, check e-mail (and post a blog…heehee), and THEN prepare for 2 hours of football practice (DEEP breath in! LOL)…

So I get home, cook spaghetti in between phone calls to hubby’s employer, insurance companies, and washing dishes…little one’s eating dinner and I need to run to the laundry room now…Then we’ll need to leave for the field in 30 minutes.  Once we get home you all know how long it takes for nighttime routines (and the kids are now on their school bedtime since they go back next Monday) for three.  Once that’s done by 9pm…perhaps I’ll finish some laundry and hopefully have SOME time to snuggle next to hubby before we fall asleep to lala land…LOL

Songs I sang for my children…

Tonight as I was singing to my 2 year old I remembered all the songs I use to sing to my children (and still do occasionally) to soothe and calm them.  So tonight I thought I would share the favorites for each one…

For my dearest older daughter of 8 I remember nights of ages ago it seemed of singing “All the Pretty Little Horses”…

Hush-a-bye, don’t you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby.
When you wake, you’ll have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.

Black and bay, dapple and grey,
Coach and six little horses,
Hush-a-bye, don’t you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby.
Hush-a-bye, don’t you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby,
When you wake, you’ll have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.

Way down yonder, down in the meadow,
There’s a poor wee little lamby.
The bees and the butterflies pickin’ at its eyes,
The poor wee thing cried for her mammy.

Hush-a-bye, don’t you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby.
When you wake, you’ll have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.

For my middle child and my only boy our favorite song was “Jesus Loves Me”…
Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
they are weak but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! loves me still,
‘tho I’m very weak and ill,
that I might from sin be free,
bled and died upon the tree.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! He who died
heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
let His little child come in.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! He will stay
close beside me all the way.
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Then for my youngest our favorite that seems to calm her the most of all the songs I sing is “You Are My Sunshine”…as I’ve always looked at her as my little sunshine…
You Are My Sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You’ll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away

Do you have your favorites that you sing to your little one?  What song is that?

What a joy…

What a beautiful sunny day it was today!  The littliest one and I enjoyed our tea, dolls, and books out back from the moment her older siblings left for school til it was time for lunch and naptime.  What a joy it was to enjoy the warmth from the sun while enjoying a nice cup with a precious little one who revels in all the attention one will give.  These are the moments that makes caring for a child such joy and saddens me deeply when other little one’s don’t have mother’s that can’t or don’t have the time to be with them.  Children of ALL ages small and big deserve all of their mommy’s and daddy’s attentions.  Both one on one and together with others.  What a joy it has been to watch this little one grow before my eyes.  To help her learn to walk, to help her learn to talk, to hear her call you mommy and to hear her tell you “I love you” even before telling her daddy whom she is so attached to.  What a joy. 🙂

Potty Training…

Hopefully soon the 2 year old will begin REALLY potty training.  For a month we thought she was doing it and she even got excited about her new Princess Pull ups!  Last night she decided to “doodie” outside her diaper…needless to say it was NOT in the toilet!  All of a sudden our oldest is screaming that her little sister has “doodied” in the foyer, hallway, AND bathroom!! OMG!!!  New carpet was recently installed in the living room so of course hubby and I are in a panic that she’s “doodied” there too since the foyer floor meets with the living room floor.  Thank goodness no “doodie” there!  But dang if I didn’t STEP in it!!!  UGH…  And of course she’s got it on her and on HER feet! YUCK!!

But then this morning…I’m here on the computer checking e-mails and here the little one comes with a plastic bag, diaper, wipes, shorts in hand, and lays down in front of me…How did I know she’d “doodied”?  The plastic bag since we wrap up the yucky diapers in them to toss out immediately outside! LOL What a good girl!!

So now I’m online again (as if it’s not obvious) looking up potty training tips on getting started and staying active.  I know my 2 older ones pretty much did it on their own and were completely potty trained by their 3rd birthday but why not be hopeful?  I decided to check out the Huggies Pull Ups site which contains several articles on potty training.

First you have to obviously check for the signs they are ready to begin the process…

Does your child stay dry for 2 hours?

Does she want her wet diapers changed?

    Show interest in the bathroom?

Indicate by words or body language when it’s time to go?

Want to wear Big Kid® pants?

    Does he understand simple directions?

If you answered yes to any of these, it’s time to think about potty training.

After looking up these quick tips I KNEW she WAS definitely ready! So why the loss of interest in the potty when she was interested?

When it comes to teaching kids to pay attention to urges Huggies says:

*  Start by bringing attention to what’s going on down there. Make changes quickly after wetting or BMs and talk about what just happened.

*  Beginners actually need to learn to “release” pee (and later BMs). Telling trainers to “Push it all out” while peeing helps them to become aware of the muscles they are learning to control.

*  Controlling urine and BM involves different sets of muscles. Most kids master #1 first. Either way, it can simplify things to focus on one thing at a time.

OK…so she knows how to release and last night I EVEN got her to try to finish the “doodie” in the potty (which she did).  She knows how to stop her urine (because one time she started to pee just before getting in the tub and when I saw it with big eyes and mouth open to say something she stopped because she knew she had to finish on the potty.

So why the loss of interest for herself?  When I go, she claps and yells for me!! LOL  When I get her to go she’s excited but it’s so rare and few compared to what it used to be!  UGH…I know I know…be patient…give it time…she’ll do it on her own time…
